After a five year wait my Magnolia maclurei bloomed this winter. I took these pics today.
Rare magnolia blooms!
How nice. Wish I could get a wiff.
It didn't have much of a smell. A little like M. grandiflora but weaker.
So much for that. I read that their fragrance was sweet and strong. The blooms are beautiful.
cowpea123, it'd be great if you could add your pics to plantfiles: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/201749/
Nice bloom. Shame it's a bit weak. Maybe it'll get a bit stronger with age.
Nicely done!
Seconding growin's sentiment, and adding: take images of the whole plant, as well as details of leaves, stems, buds, etc. for the "full monty" of this rare plant.
