This small tubular bag worm like structure moves daily attaching itself at one end. After placing a damp tissue and various leaves in the container, a larval form seemed to have come out of the bag. I am not sure if the green bug near it came from it, but my neighbor did say she smashed a small green insect before seeing the tube.
I appreciate your interest.
CLOSED: Neighbor found in her house and asked for id
Looks more like a case-bearing beetle larva than a caterpillar, but image not clear enough to tell. The green insect is unrelated, may be a leafhopper nymph.
Thanks, would you know what it might eat in the larval stage? I might try to keep it until it matures so she can watch for more.
Hard to tell since it was not found on any likely food item. If it is a beetle larva, it will be a leaf feeder; if it's a caterpillar, could be just about anything organic...
Guess I will close this as I think it died. Hasn't moved since it was last photographed. Thanks
