I found these on the wall behind a curtain in a guest room that doesnt get much use. It looks like sand and its so thick its starting to fall off the wall onto the window sil. It appears to be eggs but we never had had a problem with bugs, besides the occasial ant here and there our house is really clean and seems bug free. Please help id these things, more pics avialable tommorow if needed.
help we have a bug infestation?!?!?
Look up . Is it coming from ceiling or from window wood. Looks like a borer of some sort and maybe that is not eggs but building material pushe out of borers hole
These could be fecal pellets from drywood termites - see http://entnemdept.ufl.edu/creatures/urban/termites/wd_termite07.htm
You may want to schedule an inspection by a certified termite control company - see http://www.termite.com/south-california/ for a starting point.
That first photo...looks like holes in wall - that is why i thought beetle ( powdepost ??) bores into walls and leaves residue not sure if fecal but here in NC have seen building material pushed out.
Termites possibility too.
All so quietly sneaky
Thanks for the quick responses everyone. The first pic is of the wall and the second pic is the winsdow sil below the wall. Im not sure if it was falling off or came off when i moved the curtain back. My uncle came and scaped it off and found several bugs that he said looked like maggots with legs. As he removed the material he said that they were going crazy when he desterbered them.

:Maggots with legs" could describe worker termites...

And beetle larvae

The description of the exposed insects as "going crazy" fits termites far better than larvae of wood-boring beetles.
you are correct about termites -- i have seen them go nuts!
Have not seen a beetle larvae go crazy. But did see a photo and looks like magots with legs!
In california in a house with that 'dust' it seemed plausible.
