Missed one of these in spring, never thought I'd get a second chance, particularly not this late in the year! Only the 11th ever in my home county (and first time there's been two found in one year).

Only pic I have is Tropical Parula. Repair shop requested the rest of the my camera (not just lens) so I am birding without one which is making me crazy!

Are Juncos not normally seen in your area of Texas? They are one of my favorite birds and I'd go nuts not seeing them as much of the year as we do. Oct-April, usually. :) Did you know you have it listed twice? #399 and #402

I don't normally see juncos. I had one in the yard in Houston once. I don't know if they see them in Rockport as I'm new here. I haven't seen any. I think you have to go just a little bit north or west. Thanks for catching my mistake! I only had 8 more birds, so will fix that right now!

Congratulations Resin. I am almost afraid to ask - but they are arctic birds and they look cold - what was the temperature?

Thanks! Fairly mild today, 7°C (though 0° yesterday, just after the storm brought the arctic air down). The sea is still around 8°, so the cold doesn't last too long at this time of year.

Very cool Resin! and pretty cold! We have a different idea of cold.I didn't take my scarf off yesterday until it reached 74F.

Had a two cool bird day on Sunday:

410 -- Long-eared Owl
411 -- Brown Booby

and then had another fab bird on Wednesday:

412 -- Prairie Falcon (pictures were lousy which was sad b/c beautifully marked)

Hope to add a few next weekend for the Christmas Bird Count.

But, added Horned Lark last weekend, which brings me to 154. I'm afraid I won't make 200 this year.

Horned Lark is a good one. I didn't see many this year. I just got my "needs" list from ebird. It's a list of birds that other people have just seen in Texas that I don't have for the year. There were more than 20 birds on it. Oh well, can't get them all, and can't complain as I have had a good year.

155 - Rough-legged Hawk.

I was hoping for some Snow Buntings and Lapland Longspurs, but no luck. If I drove into chicago I could have gotten a bunch of "new" birds, but I'm too lazy.

I just went through my camera card and see that the birds I thought were likely horned larks on 12/13 were actually Snow Buntings.

So. 156 - Snow Bunting. I DID have horned larks at that location the same day, as well as today, so they stay on the list.

Congratulations Mrs. Ed on the Snow Buntings. :) That is one I've been scouring the fields for. So far just the Horned Larks and Lapland Longspurs, but we got those earlier this year.

It is kind of funny, that's how we got our lifer Horned Larks in 2012. The day was dark and we saw what I thought was a flock of Juncos, but when I looked at the photos on the computer, they were the Horned Larks.

Well, I've been AWOL for a while, but I just went through my photo files and notes from the last few months to update my list and at least get a fairly good estimate of the birds I've seen since I visited this thread last ... I don't remember where I left off, so I'll just go back a few months.
