More Bluebird photos ..
Daily piccies vol 448 and Welcome to 2013
Oh Iris...love your BB's!!
Mrs Ed.......Congrats on the Redpoll!! I thought I might have had one the other day so I rushed to get the camera so I could zoom and see better but the bird flew off first. Probably was just a finch anyway! lol
I actually took some pics yesterday thru the window. I need to upload and see if they are any good.
The squirrels are trying to find any place on the suet cake where it is not hot, but they can't, it is fun to watch them try, they get in all kinds of positions, upside down sideways.
Hope their tongues burn.
Behind the scene here, and enjoying your shots.
Nothing spectacular here as these were taken yesterday during one of our snow showers!! The Pileated was here twice today but took off before I could grab the camera. She sense any movement and she out of here!!
Male Cardinal and Red-bellied woodpecker
House Finch and Carolina Chickadee
House Finch and Female Cardinals....we have so many it seems strange when others say they don't see cardinals!
Downy Woodpecker and Red-breasted Nuthatch
Mrs.-Ed, It " Was" like spring here for a while with the temps arond 65-70, But, back to cold now. ( Won't be much longer before the nice weathers back again though .. can't wait!) ~ It's been such a warm winter that the shrubs are actually budding and I've even seen some bees about! ~ Nice to see that you got a red poll!
Nanny ... Thanks! ~ I love watching them and hearing there calls! ( I alway know if they are around by the sound they make)
I enjoyed your pictures! Sorry you missed the Pileated woodpecker, Hopefully you'll be able to catch it next time.
Gardenpom, Love the painted buntings!
Iris, I really enjoyed seeing your photos. The bluebirds are beautiful and the finches are always so cute.
Mrs Ed, I'm so glad the redpolls are arriving. Such cute photos of yours and the red-bellied.
GP, I sure love the buntings and red-bellied.
Beclu, that pb log is really bringing you some pretty birds too. Cute photos.
Here's a yellow-rumped warbler.
beclu727, I guess you did have a full house today! Thats one looong feeder, I think I'm going to make a pb log. ~ Enjoyed the photos!
ducbucln, I always enjoy seeing your photos, and this is a great one of the yellow-rumped warbler!
Iris, DH makes me a new log each winter using a branch or log from our yard. He puts 1-1.5 inch holes in it using his drill press and uses the same wire/hook from previous logs. The holes are about 0.5-0.75 inches deep. This one has 6 holes. The one he made last year had 15 and that was too much. I usually try to find a log with some branches sticking out for the non-clingers to use.
The long feeder is from Droll Yankees and is very old. It was a gift from a friend who was moving and didn't have a spot for it at the new place. I think its 32 inches long!
Becky
Becky, Thanks for the update for the log.
I believe that is the first time I've seen a feeder that long, Nice gift!!
Enjoying the pictures folks.
Here are some shots, some taken through window screen, all taken through windows. Too darned cold outside. Some sunshine would also be very welcome. LOL Just like everyone else. Wishing for warmth. Then complain when it gets too hot.
Here is a female cardinal; a white breasted nuthatch; the odd couple, LOL; a RB woodpecker twice.
This is our little brown wren, he stays here more often than he used to, the only problem I have now is the crackles, they are crazy about the hot pepper suet. But I can't keep everyone off of the suet, there is 3 of them on there now, but I have never seen the wren on the suet before, this was the first time.
Nice pics everyone! With 100 posts, time to go on to Volume 449, a volunteer to start it please!
Resin
sorry, I meant to say starlings.lol!
Okay, I'll start a new: Here we go!
