A GORGEOUS orb spider planted her little butt right on the corner of my deck outside, and we enjoyed watching her weave spectacular webs, her growing middle, and the resulting egg sac that she created. I named her Sophie. She died a week after the egg sac was made.
For two months, I watched over the sac, ensuring that it was intact. A few days ago, I noticed that it was split open, as if a bird ripped through it. It has been unusually mild here in NC for the past week. Today, the temps will dive. I gently dissected what was left of the sac, and noticed that some babies were still alive.
How can I preserve these cuties? Any ideas?
