I see these in my yard every now and then. It walks in jerky movements. It plays dead too when it senses danger. What is this insect? Locally, of course in slang, we call it as 'buffalo insect' for its tough and unattractive body.
What beetle is this, brown hard shell
It's a darkling beetle (family Tenebrionidae). See http://guaminsects.myspecies.info/sites/guaminsects.myspecies.info/files/images/darkling.JPG for a similar (but not identical) example.
Ok, Flapdoodle. Thanks. I was looking to add it to the database [Bug Files].
