Hi, there. I am in the south of the UK, and spotted this spider outside the widow the other day. There is one similar to it outside the window in the kitchen at work and I am having trouble identifying it! Does anyone know what it might be?

It is a bit difficult to make out the markings in your picture....but possibly an orb weaver? This link has some images for comparison.

The commonest orb weaver in your area is Araneus diadematus (European garden spider). See if the topside of yours looks like this:
