Since everyone is starting sending plants and cuttings now that the weather is warming up,I thought I'd share this tidbit.
You can get all of the bubble wrap and great boxes you want at your local collision/body shop.Replacement parts come carefully wrapped in the tiny bubble wrap and the boxes are nice and sturdy.
I prefer General Motors boxes because they have no logos or printing on them to confuse the post office. There's just a small sticker to pull off.
Headlight boxes and taillight boxes are ideal and there's bunches of those replaced all ovr the country every day. They just throw the packaging away.
I have shipped all over the world with this free material with great results.Just go and ask for it.Most shops will be more than happy to get rid of their trash(treasure)
If you have a new car dealership closeby, they get the same stuff for their service dept.and fill up a dumpster every day.
free shipping material
Thanks Melody, that is great info! Lisa
Now thats recycling! I am going to do it. Does this fall under embarassing the Hubby territory again?!
Just make the hubby do it, and he might get excited that you're letting him anywhere near an auto parts shop... :)
What a great idea! Thanks for sharing!
Personally, I can't let my husband get anywhere near the car dealership...he's got the car-buying fever baaaad. He'd come home with shipping material and a brand-new car or truck! Guess I'll have to send him to the auto parts store instead....
Hey, my dad & brother work for a huge auto everything place! Why have my sister and I not thought of this before?
Now I'll have to admit how I got this info....Hubby is a car daealr!
By the way, some parts like bumpers come wrapped in sheets of bubble wrap big enough to cover a tomato cage.A handy thing to know with spring coming on.
