Found infestation of small white bugs that looked exactly like grains of white rice moving fairly quickly to get back under (& into?) a wet cardboard box after I moved it off the walkway (cement and slate) near the shed. Moved too fast to get a picture. The box was very wet as we somehow left it outside when we went on vacation. Seemed to be perhaps a juvenile insect - BUT - I very know very little about insects.
I am extremely afraid something may be infesting plants in shed, so any information will be very much appreciated!

sounds more like a maggot, fly larvae
It does to me, too. 'Like grains of rice' is how they're generally described.
Well, today I saw white 'ants' moving away from the low ground in the garden, they just haven't been in the sun and just hatched, but they are tiny and recognizable...

Do maggots eat cardboard? The contents of the box were not edible...
If there was something dead in the box, they could have eaten whatever it was and you'd see no remains.
Cockroaches can survive on glue behind the wallpaper, maggots, usually require dead meats or even living raw wounds. White ants- termites- live on the cardboard and wood of the sheds, carpenter ants are much larger than sugar ants, but maggots look like little fat rice grains...I cannot link you to a picture- but you should try googling pix-
Maggots do not eat living flesh. They eat the dead matter around them.
I suppose we can mark this, technically, solved. ^_^
Never seen them in a living wound have ya? They can keep it really clean and keep it from healing.
Yes, they do. By eating the dead tissue.
