I received this email from our Dear Friend Deb (joeswife) - can we all do this, please?
I know you are all very busy and I am hoping you would take a few minutes to send a card of well wishes or thoughts to my sister Sherry, who has been dealing with Breast Cancer for almost a year and a half now. She is still doing chemo, and it has turned into stage 4 , spreaded thru out her lungs, stomach, bones and lymph nodes. She is a fighter, but as a lone woman and single mother, she has her down moments more than her up moments.
I have never requested a card shower before, so hoping this turns out well.
My card is going in the mail this morning!
Her information:

What about her last name??
That isn't needed - just her first name and address will get it to her - thanks for sending her a card!
Here's a little friend I found yesterday. He was so cold, he couldn't move. I put him in the sun to warm up. Someone had posted one similiar, I think....what is he?
Paula,
That's a Zebra Longwing. They are Florida's state butterfly. They are also endangered. This year tho I had more of them here than ever before. They lay their eggs on Passionflower's. The caterpillars are really cute...little "zebra" looking cat's. I plant several native passi's just for them, they prefer the native's over the hybirds. But will use a hybrid passi if there is nothing else available.
Hoya australis and Hoya linearis plant and close up of bloom
I had posted the earlier one and we had not seen any in many years. It is strange, since they weren't around I had started yanking all the passi's out, I have a hard time keeping up with them. Now that the passis's are (almost) gone the butterflies show up. Go figure.
Alice, you pulled out your Passifloras?!!! What were they?
morning.. hope you are all enjoying your beautiful Saturday.. I made a big pot of homeade vege beef soup and I am going to eqat the whole thing I think.
Love the butterfly, never saw them until I came here to the tropical forum.. you are all such wonderful friends..
A special friend sent me a beautiful painting, love it. Can't begin to tell you how much it means to me when one of ya all send me something.
banana tree is eating it's leaves? right? that is how it feeds it's pups? should I have separated the babies from momma? When Joe goes down there and sees his banana baby with yellowing leaves he is going to freak out.
Deb, just cut those yellow leaves off - they don't serve a purpose.
Pests. :-)
Sorry, but I do not pass on invasive plants and these were real thugs. I had a Lavender Lady that I'll never be rid of and a coccinia that had not bloomed in years. After going to a butterfly presentation, I learned some of the red ones are not good for the butterflies.
I'll trade you for some Lavender Lady - mine died for some unknown reason.
I bought these beauties this past weekend. I wanted more, but at $15 a piece, had to stick with the 4. Two of which are the Butterfly (papillio). The other two are Red Pearl and Luna. As you can see the bulbs are huge and each one has at least one baby.
Can't wait to see them bloom....the red pearl, in the pic, looks almost black...we'll see.
Please do share pics - especially interested in the butterfly Amaryllis! Where did you find them?!
Hi Kay,
They were at the Ace Hdw on St. Simons Island. They have really nice plants, but nice prices also!
I thought I would start a new thread....everyone seems to be away. Come on over and say HI!
