Unidentified Moth
Family Geometridae, maybe an Epirrita sp. which can be active in late autumn - see http://www.lepidoptera.pl/gallery/9000/PIC_9961.JPG for an example. There are several other species with a very similar wing pattern.
Thanks. Using your ids I found a moth picture via Google which looked almost exactly like mine. The Autumnal Moth (Epirrita autumnata). That assumes the person who uploaded the photo had id'd it corredtly!
