Hello everybody. I am fairly new to this forum and I hope that I am not asking a silly question. We have seen many more unusual insects this past summer at our home in Kanata, Ontario (part of the City of Ottawa). It could be that I am just more observant, now that I have been retired for 4 months. I am an Engineer and don't know my insects well. This caterpillar was under our deck railing for the better part of a day and then moved on. Could someone identify it for me please. Thank you. Chris

Don't worry about thinking it's a silly question, that's why we're here...to help out. If you don't know, you have to ask.
It's a Hornworm, maybe this one?

Hello 'kwanjin",
Thank you very much for responding. I am glad that we don't have tomato plants! Our neighbours do.
Cheers
Chris
You're very welcome. Dave's is a great place. Look around and have some fun.
