The insect books I have do not show this, but I think it is a walking stick. Just wanting to verify.

Yes, a Striped Walking Stick, Anisomorpha sp., with male attached if I'm seeing it correctly.

the Two-Striped Walking Stick will eject a blinding spray into your eyes so do be careful.
