Found these guys (about 6 pairs) congregating on my peppers this morning. I live in Riverside, CA. They're black and white w/ orange spots on them, and a little larger than a ladybug.
CLOSED: Mystery hemipterans on my peppers
I am not sure, but when there are 6 pairs of something it is usually bad news.
Stink bugs (Pentatomidae) - could be these bad guys...

Thanks Flapdoodle-- that looks like the right bug. It's ironic that they're an invasive exotic pest here in southern California, as I'm in the midst of putting together a K-12 outreach program to teach kids about invasive species! I just went out and checked my peppers, and the 6 pairs were still there (weird?!?!), so I disposed of them. Hopefully this means my newly planted arugula will be safe!
