do dragon fly have two wings ? i always thought it had a set of four.
this i captured in Ewing, NJ in August 2012
please help with its ID...

This is one of the crane flies (family Tipulidae). Crane flies are part of the order Diptera, which means "two wings".

thank you flatpickit for your reply.
it seems like it belongs to the crane fly family. also this one appear to me as a female.
please mark that this one has a non-transperent body and has black spots all over it, which is absent on the crane fly shown on your link.
i hope some one narrow it down further.

hi everyone.
i searched through hundreds of crane fly images and or info. but none seem to match image that i put here.
this one does have features of crane fly family but i can't figure out the sub-family, genus etc.
so i marked it open again.

please help
