Hi all,
Can anyone here confirm or deny that this is a Kissing Bug? I live in central Virginia about 90 minutes southwest of DC. It was on my porch this afternoon and I'm kind of freaking out because I know some of these bugs carry the parasite that causes the Chagas disease but I thought those bugs were mostly towards Mexico. I would have never expected to see it here in Virginia. The other day I also saw a small bug crawling around in another section of my yard that looked like a younger Kissing Bug, but I didn't catch it in time to get a photo.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much,
Rob
Kissing Bug?
It looks like it used to be a Wheelbug, not a Kissing Bug. This is a Kissing Bug...

Thanks Kwanjin! Very much appreciated--I'll sleep better tonight. :)

You're very welcome. I would be careful around these. They can give a very painful bite.
So I've read. I'll be sure to keep my eyes open. Thankfully they seem pretty hard to miss.
