Driving to our local fire lookout tower, I see lots of trees, mostly madrone, with tent caterpiller-like infestations. I stopped and picked a branch. The worm under magnification is a hairy guy with bright orange spots on each segment along with some pretty purple squiggles. There are no dark stripes like the tent caterpillar that I am familiar with. Have a picture but haven't been able to upload it yet. Can anyone help with this limited info???
