My friend said she was stung by a bee, and posted a photo. I commented that it was a wasp and she commented back that it was a bee. I've never seen a bee which looks like this. Which of us are correct? It died after stinging her and we live in the northeast.
Bee or Wasp?
Definitely a wasp. Possibly a Paper Wasp.
Looks like it has orange antennae; if so, likely a European paper wasp - http://ento.psu.edu/extension/factsheets/dominulus-or-european-paper-wasp
