Hello. My dog found this animal on my sunporch (Denver foothills). It was quite agressive, rearing up in a trantula-like fashion. At first I thought it was a spider; then perhaps an ant of some kind? It's mandibles move up and down, rather than side to side. I have tiny black ants from time to time in my house, nothing serious. I photographed and released it outside.
CLOSED: Ant queen? Agressive!
This is a Windscorpion in the order Solifugae.

This website gives more information on them. They feed on other insects mostly, are not venomous, and are considered beneficial.

That is so cool....thanks!
