Visited my garden over a week ago. Very pretty, hooked on globe thistle. Black and yellow striped abdomen, the wings are transparent gold with black bars/spots. The closest match I've found is the pennant variety but can't find mine (wings and markings don't match). I would love to know what type dragonfly it is, any lead/info is appreciated.

Looks like a Halloween pennant, Celithemis eponina.

Yes, I thought so too. But comparing multiple pics I thought that the colors and markings aren't quite the same. The Halloween seems darker, browner, with heavier markings and mine is more 'gold' with fewer and lighter markings. I'm looking for the perfect match - am I just expecting too much from nature?
Possibly a Calico Pennant.

These pennants can be confusing, especially when individual variation in wing pattern is taken into consideration. The hind wings of the calico pennant usually have an extensive dark basal patch, which I cannot see in davids188 images.
Flapdoodle - found even more pics of the Halloween and they 'match' more than any of the others I've found - especially the females - which is what I think have. The stripes and spots on the wings aren't exact - but still, close enough. Thanks all for the help.
