You must come visit me. I live about 40 miles from Gatlinburg!!! You can use Google search eith Gatlinburg as the search word and should find all kinds of hotels. From the middle of November thru February they have the festival of lights, with millions of Christmas lights. Here is a link

MSJen,
Dave and I have stayed at the cabins in Gatlinburg many times, and have never been disappointed. Do be aware that peak season is coming up, and the cabins are more pricey, and harder to get ahold of at that time. The two that I remember staying at off the top of my head are Carr's (although I can't find them on the internet right now), and Best Western Zoder's Inn. Look around on the internet, there are many listed, and many have virtual tours so you can see what they are like.
That is pretty close to us, hint hint :)

If you go visit Trish and Dave, you HAVE to come see me. Waaaaaaah. (GoVols doesn't live too far away either)
I stopped once at the visitors center and they were offering a free stay for some new cabins. They were owned by Archie Cambell. This was many years ago. I would check with the chamber of commerce at Sevierville and Gatlinburg and see if they had any freebies. I've never been at this time of year but if Dixie Stampede is operating when you visit it is really something else. Expensive but worth it. Enjoy your trip. Jim
Oh, absolutely you should come visit all of us. I'm probably on your way, either coming or going. (I'm in the middle of the state.) Do a websearch for cabins + Gatlinburg. You'll come up with several sites that can help you find something you like, in your price range (availability might be a bit limited though.) My inlaws used to have a cabin in Pigeon Forge that they rented out; unfortunately it's gone now, or I'd be glad to offer it to ya'll :) Have a great time! If you get a chance, slip over to NC and see Biltmore - it's a day's worth of driving, touring, etc. but well worth it if you can spare the time. (In fact, DH suggested that as a destination for an anniversary getaway weekend (our 19th)this December - woohoo!)
wow, thanks for the help y'all..i ordered some vacation guides off the internet and im hoping that we can come up with something. this one place has a chalet that is quite expensive to rent, but it sleeps 6, so im thinking we can get a couple of our friends together and split the cost...adults are okay...just NO KIDS!!!!!
thanks again
jen
and of course when we do come up, we will look everyone up !!
We need to have a people round robin, don't we? :o) Or an exchange gardener program....Heh, heh. If you're ever up in Central Ohio, our door's open for a mostly home-cooked meal and some killer java.
MS Jen my good friends have a cabin on the water in TOWNSON
email me an I will see what's availbily...we stay there a couple or more times a summer it's right on the water and u would love it. [[[[[[nana]]]]
