Found this in my garden the other day. What kind of a beetle is this?
It is almost 2" in size. The wings to not extend to the very end of its tail which
appears to have bands of yellow and brown.
Thank you, Gita

Thanks, flapdoodle---
Looks like the same. I found mine on a brick edging under my old, large Burning Bush---but this is also
close to a Maple tree--whose roots are everywhere.
What damage--if any--does this pose to trees and shrubs?
Thank you---Gita

I am nowhere near the trees you mentioned. Just a Maple and some shrubs...
Maybe--It was"lost"???? Bugs CAN get lost. NO????
Should I hang on for more opinions??? Otherwise--I consider my question as "solved"...
Can anyone answer my question on what damage this beetle can cause to anything?
Then--I will click it as "Solved"..... Gita
They can fly, and just because an insect 'prefers' something doesn't necessarily mean that it is restricted to it...
Thanks....
