I've bathed my dogs in tomato juice . I wonder if it's the acid and if vinegar would work as well .
How I spent my evening...
Digger, 83 dogs fostered and adopted. That is awesome! And I did read your story from April 2011 and am so happy it ended well. You have a very big heart indeed.
Josephine, it's a sad situation but you and your friends did the right thing by this puppy. It's horrible that people prefer dumping a box of puppies to simply taking them to a shelter. But the little thing is no longer suffering and sometimes that is the only thing we can do to help.
Carla
You are so right Carla.
I just read that skunks make wonderful house pets and can be potty trained. But first the stink sacks are surgically removed. This can be an expensive pet. :)
It doesn't cost all that much Sylvia .But of course it also depends on where you live . Dallas is high on vet services but Lousiana is much cheaper and in La , you can even buy and give rabies shots yourself .You could always have a few days vacation in La .
I should be LA! I have a cat with Diabetes and it just one thing after another. Last week I thought I was taking him to have a fang removed (he lost one) because it was going through his lip., they pulled teeth and the fang is still there. One his toenails had curved over into his paw, they had to take care of that. the long toenails are probably my fault because I am afraid to cut them. Anyway I dont know what they did to him, his right hind hip seem to be going out. He is only 12 years and he is my heart!
When my babies hurt , I hurt all over.
Oh, sorry to hear about your cat, City_Sylvia. I've been in exactly that same spot.....it is very tough.
Sorry your kittie has to go through so much. I clip my cats nails all the time... they are much easier to do than dog nails. I use regular nail clippers like you use on your own nails. Cat nails are very fine and thin. You just clip the tips occasionally. I have to do hers frequently to keep them from being sharp because she lays on my lap and if anything startles here she jumps and I get the nails... and every sound such as phone ringing, doorbell or even sudden wind startles her! Needless to say, I quickly learn when it is time to do the nails again. I tought her to let me mess with her feet by just playing with her toes when she is laying on my lap... she lets me do the nails without any problem.
I use bird nail and beak nippers on my cat and dogs .
I talked to the vet again today about Sedric's right hip, took him in for blood work. I wish I had the money I would try another vet. There is stuff running out his left eye that turns into something that look and feel like spun sugar
Clean with cotten ball and people eye wash .
City_Silvia, it does help to get a second vet's oppinion, at least for me. I've luckily found a new vet and I feel I can trust him. We'll keep our fingers crossed for Sedric.
Saw three skunks last night while settling in the goats for the evening. Either they were moving out of the neighborhood upon learning goats would be moving in, or they were just moving through. Hope I don't have more skunk issues. This has been a wild spring what with all the snakes, skunks, and owls at my house. And now many, many spiders! =8~o!
Just read a news post about how Black widow spiders are abundant this year . We sweep spider webs every day from around our front door . I guess I'll have to spray them ,hate to ,cus they are the good ones , catching the flying bugs .
We had pet skunks as kids. They were wonderful, very much like cats.I hope everything works out with your babies.
