We just noticed this today - something seems to be attacking our apple tree. We do not know if it is something boring into the wood.
It looks like there are droppings on the ground we are wondering if that is from the bug(?) or is that the pulp of the tree being bored out somehow?
We are wondering what is it and what can we do to save the tree. What can we do to stop from spreading to other trees?
It is at the base of the tree about 6" up from the ground. The tree looks healthy otherwise. May be it just started???
If any body knows what this is and what we can do we thank you.
