These creatures are all over my wife's tomatoes.
Can anyone:
1. Identify them; or
2. Indicate what damage if any they cause; or, if any,
3. How to organically eradicate them.
Thanks !

Feeding damage can result in misshapen/discolored fruit and premature fruit drop.
Try Neem oil.
I think you nailed it !
We were told these bugs were harmless when we showed a photo of them to the garden shop so this was most helpful.
But a remaining question is whether they are causing a collapse of the skin and inner structure but not fruit fall. An example is attached. Any thoughts on that?
Meanwhile, we will be investing in Neem oil big time.
The damage in the tomato image looks more like environmental stress/disease than insect injury to me. Show it to your local extension agent office - http://www.lsuagcenter.com/en/our_offices/parishes/
be very careful with neem oil in the sun. it is an oil and will burn the plants...not saying it isn't good, it is- but for a quicker fix to kill them, try liquid castile soap and water spray.
