Hi all, new here. My wife found this tick on my daughter's ear. It is just under 1/4" nose to butt. I know deer ticks are supposed to be small, but my understanding is that can vary. It looks like an adult female deer tick or dog tick based upon internet photos, but I also heard that dog ticks rarely attach themselves to people.
I'm hoping someone here is an expert and can tell me if this is a deer tick (common carrier of lyme disease) or something else.
Thanks for any help you can provide
CLOSED: Tick identification - Deer Tick?
This a wood/dog tick in genus Dermacentor. See http://www.health.state.mn.us/divs/idepc/dtopics/tickborne/ticks.html for image of deer tick.
Thanks so much. I was concerned because on this site: http://www.tickencounter.org/tick_identification
The adult female deer tick looked so similar (even had brownish legs despite it's black legged label).
Thanks again
