My daughter would like to know what this is. A couple people are trying to convince her it's a "wheel bug", but I looked that up and it doesn't look anything like it. If anyone can tell me what this is, I'd really appreciate it.

It is a Wheelbug nymph.

Yes it is definitely a wheel bug, it's in it's 3rd of 5 molts. They start out bright red and it diminishes with each molt, on the 5th molt they lose the red altogether and have wings and the wheel on it's back.
