Bedrock Gardens

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

Bedrock Gardens was recently featured on an episode of the NH Chronicle show and it caught my interest. About once a month they hold open garden tours and last Saturday we got to visit. The property was an old dairy farm and the owners started development on the site back in 1985, most of the work done on the property has been done by the owners themselves. It is filled with interesting garden art designed by the wife and built by her husband. And many interesting rock features as the name of the garden suggests.

Oh

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i will stop here with some more rock.........all the rock was from the property, with the states knick name the granite state go figure.

Marilyn for $75 you can have one:) they have a large pamplet of the art and prices.

here is their web site - http://bedrockgardens.org/

next open house is July 21st - worth the trip - it might seem i took every picture of all the garden art - i did not there was just so much i was worried about my camera battery and memory - it was overwhelming - the garden plant diversity was just ok, this is a site to visit for the art - they also have many very large features that fit only because of the size of the farm.

enjoy

Very unusual place....that underwater head creeped me out!

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

I ADORED that creepy head that was underwater, but after seeing all the work and the success of this garden, I wonder why I even try. I am truly overwhelmed by the scope, and imagination that has gone into building this Park not to mention the daily work. I too loved the wonky cairns. Thanks so much for posting all these shots. Very neat!!! I loved the underwater head!!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Reminded me of the scene from Lord of the Rings.

I know why you try, Patti, because it gives us such joy and you love doing it. Sure wish I could walk your garden for the tour. Oh, wait, I already have, through your pics. maybe someday it could be in person.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

patti, yes it was more like a park, i would venture to guess that you may have more plant/shrub/tree variety than they do with the multiple acres. The space sure gave them the opportunity to go big. I will say that weeding was not a priority.

Norridgewock, ME(Zone 5a)

That metal arch made me think instantly of a yoga backbend. Wonderful pictures, gave me ideas, thanks!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

you are welcome

Thomaston, CT

Aaack! $75.00 for just one? I guess my hostas will stay as they are!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

they are artisians :)

Thomaston, CT

Yes, & I admire them for their creativity, but that's out of my league.....

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks for the virtual tour, Bill. Very nice place, and quite fantastic. I will have to go someday. Too bad I'll be having a plant sale on July 21. Maybe they'll have an open house in Aug.

So they are the ones who have created all the sculpture themselves? Wonderful! They are definitely artists. Do they hire people to help maintain the place? They must. I don't know how 2 people could keep up a place that large without help.

BTW, I loved the head underwater, too. And yes, Jan, it reminded me of the scene from the Lord of the Rings also.

I just checked, and they do have a date for Aug., as well as one for Sept. I might shoot for the Sept. one, as then I could be there for the fall colors. That would be really nice. My Dad would probably love it.
