Help identifying a bug / beetle?

This bug was found in northern Illinois. It is roughly 4mm x 6mm and has a gray body with black spots.

The picture won't enlarge very much, but it reminds me of a giant aphid (subfamily Lachninae), perhaps a Giant Bark Aphid, or Giant Willow Aphid:
