CLOSED: What kind of beetle

Mesa, AZ

I have these bugs all over my yard. They seem to really like the tomatoes that I have in my compost area and are all over my sunflowers. I don't see that they are doing damage, but have never seen them before.

Ahhhh ok I've seen the adults everywhere but don't remember seeing them before this year, they destroyed all my squash. How do I control them? My chickens won't eat them and they eat most of the bugs in my yard.

If you're organic, try Neem oil. Otherwise, just about any insecticide labeled for use against piercing-sucking type insects should work.

I am organic, since the chickens eat all the scraps from the garden not to mention most of the weeds. Thank you for all your helpful information.

you can also try liquid castile soap and water. it does an excellent job of killing whatever i need killed. just remember that whatever you do use, try to target the pest and not spray willy-nilly and never spray anything when bees are present.
