just took this picture a few minutes ago. it is about the size of a dime and looks to be a stink or shield bug of some kind.
thanks!

the pictures are basically the same...both blurry.....sigh.

i have searched the web for red stinkbug, shield bug, etc. and the closest i come to something similar is a Lily Beetle (all red coloring) but this insect is much wider. sorry for the poor photos.
please, anyone?

It might be a stink bug that recently has molted and not yet attained its 'normal' coloration.

Track, I found one red stink bug...but it is not as red as yours...perhaps they are bright right after molting??? (Euschistus variolarius)

this is one that i wish i would have captured and kept to get better photos.
jean, the link you provided is the closest match so far but mine didn't have the pointy shield ends...much more rounded. it was climbing up the same trash can where i found my second 4th instar predatory stink bug nymph.

i should have done a tracking number. i sent it priority but i guess it could have gotten lost or mis-delivered. imagine the look on the face of the guy who opened it! serves him right.....roflol
