A friend found this larva in her yard, and I told her I would submit it here for a possible ID. It's about 3.5 inches in length. Any guesses?

one of the Sphinx/Hawk moths. Possible Carolina or 5 Spotted Hawk moth
It's a definite match for the tomato hornworm. We were hoping for a regal moth, a cecropia, or a polyphemus...anything but the dreaded tomato hornworm. I'll let my friend know so she can stop saving it. Thanks for the ID.
