My boyfriend was stung by this insect, I think it's some kind of wasp? Its total body length is under 1 cm (0.3")
We found a small hive (about the size of 2 walnuts) in the palm tree on the balcony and am wondering if we should get it re-located?
We live in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and the climate is tropical. We're not avid gardeners so any input is much appreciated!
Do you know what this insect is?
Not a wasp, but a muscoid fly of some sort. They do not sting, and do not form hives. Also, most muscoid flies do not bite, but there are exceptions such as stable flies and horn flies.
It only stung? i personally would eradicate the nest, tho, but find out what is actually within the nest- some of those things can lay eggs inside their sting and it causes much pain-not that that fly is necessarily the type to do that...
