I am not sure what these are. Also notice the little white spots all over the flowers and leaves (look like eggs). I noticed them after seeing holes in the leaves of my Hibiscus
CLOSED: Assassin bug or Leaf footed bug.
The little spots are Aphids and the others appear to be eating them.
Definitely an assassin bug - http://www.floridanature.org/species.asp?species=zelus_longipes
a good bug to have around!!!
I was wondering because there are more than 5 of them hanging out on one small hibiscus. Would it be good to move some to my vegetable garden in the back?
if there are five, especially on hibiscus, i'd let them be. you have aphids and these guys will clean them up. if you do decide to move a couple, be careful. they do bite/sting, though not lethal at all....or maybe i'm thinking of the wheelbug. maybe those are the ones i'm thinking of. they are also good guys.
Assassin bugs and wheel bugs are all in the same family Reduviidae...

yes, but are they both capable of a bite or sting? i can't remember.....i know the wheel bug is.
All assassin bugs are capable of 'biting,' but the bite of only a few (like the wheel bug and masked hunter), appear extremely painful.
thank you!
