My friend has some of these at his house ni Austin, Texas, and he really wants to know what they are. I told him I know just the dudes to ask.
What's this crazy red bug (true bug)?
It's a katydid - several species come in a pink color variant. Google "pink katydid" for some examples.

I'd say it is a true katydid mostly because of its extremely long attenae, and its rounded wings. It might be a pink pterophylla camellifolia
way cool!
