What's going on there with the monarchs. Are they on little pieces of paper?

We use coffee filters on quart canning jars, so when they form their chrysalis we just fold up the filters and pin them to the foam. Works good!

We also write on the filters where we got the egg/cat, and the date we found it; this way if we find any more OE we can figure out where it comes from. Also my sister named them all--so that is there also.

Looks like sister might run out of ideas for names if she keeps going!

LOL! So glad to see healthy Monarchs emerging. Hope you are ready with a yard full of MW. They will be trying to increase the numbers this year I bet.

Homeworth, OH(Zone 5b)

Lots and lots of MW here.

Saw a BST passing thru this morning. You guys are making me envious - on the other hand, I can't imagine what I'd be doing if I had cats right now with all I've got going on. Keep up the good work!!!

Evelyn -- It is one of the "Emeralds". I'm guessing Columbian Emerald Moth (Nemoria darwiniata).

Is it from Columbia? In northern CA??

Red Oak, TX

Evelyn: No, that's just the common name for it. It's definitely found throughout much of California.

My butterflies have all but dissapeared. I'm so disappointed. I keep out butterfly brew for them plus lots of flowers are blooming now. I don't know where they have gone!! Somthing has been munching on my fennel, but I never see any cats there. The one that was there is now gone also. Just don't know what to think of it!

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Usually being inundated with BST'S and not seen even one this year in my gardens anywhere. There is a forlorn feeling with that, wondering why? Still I have Sulphers and Red Admirals every few days.
Those are some nice Monarch pic's I enjoy this thread ,A big thank you to all.

I had a BST on my flowers yesterday. It was in nice condition. It just flitted around checking out all the flowers. My zinnia's are blooming well and that is where a lot of my bf's go. Haven't had anything on the butterfly brew trays. Earlier in the spring they were covered with them. In early spring, there were so many I was ducking them so I didnt' get run into. lol Now, since they are scarce, I get excited when I see one.
