Could this be a dogwood tree?

Dogwood?
Nope - more likely a Crabapple or some other member of Rosaceae.
Dogwood will have oppositely arranged foliage, and usually four-parted flowers.
Thanks Viburnum I think you are right about it being a Crabapple Tree. I do remember ordering from Arbor day collection a flowering tree but they are not labeled when they come so couldnt remember what I had ordered.

Even if Arbor Day labeled them, you may be 'surprised."
When I got my 10 free trees from Arborday they were painted at the top a little to tell what they were, that was ten years ago. Without labels though, you quickly don't know what they are if they aren't labeled by the customer.
Your right about the labeling thats why I dont like to order from them. Both times i did order from them someone got it for me so did not have trhe choice
