CLOSED: unknown giant moth

Valparaiso, IN

This moth was (almost) the size of a mouse with wings. Sighted in northwest Indiana today. Any idea what it is?

Pachysphinx modesta maybe? (Modest sphinx)
Definitely a sphinx of some type.

Thank you so much for the ID. And the links! I enjoyed reading about this bug. I thought it was neat that they call it the "Modest" Sphinx Moth because when seen facing up on a wall, the bottom half of the moth is dark as though "modestly covered" by a cloak or shawl.
