What's blooming in your garden?
The spiderwort I received from Smockette at the RU is blooming. It's such a pretty purple color.

May 2012 Blooms
Spiderworts are pretty but anytime I try to grow them they get very floppy...too much water?

Gorgeous, Cheryl!!
Another pretty! I love red blooms in the garden. And yellow...and purple...and pink..and......LOL
Very pretty Joy.
So pretty, and lots of things we haven't grown yet.
bariolio - How was your Penta "over wintered"?....and Love the color of it. Your Sweet Pea is adorable. I tried to grow them once here because they smell so good.....but they all croaked in our heat.
Wildcat Thicket - Your field of pink is just gorgeous.....and the Irises too!
Such pretty blooms!!
Thanks, Morganc! This is the first year I planted sweet peas. Gotta plant in cooler months. I planted them along with my snow peas. I got a small number of snow peas because I didn't catch the powdery mildew in time. The sweet peas also got it but kept blooming anyway! They grew really tall before any flowers developed, then tons of them. I didn't realize they smelled so good. I'll definitely plant more in Nov.
As for the penta, it was just a nub above the ground with a few green leaves so I just left it there. Didn't do anything special. But we did have such a mild winter, a few things didn't die that normally would, like one of my bell peppers.
I love seeing everyone's flowers--they're all so beautiful and different. So many flowers, so little time, space and energy. I think I'm repeating myself!
Hope we all get more rain soon! Janet
I have heard that you have to plant sweet peas in the fall, around October.
stephanie - Love the pink Daylily.....pink is something I want to add this year. And white and blue....ha ha. I once planted over 100 seeds of Strawberry Fields.....I think we got three blooms. What do you do to yours?....they are lovely. I'm writing on my forehead....must buy Phlox!!! And plant Sweet Peas in fall. :-))
Do any of you mix in your veggies and flowers? bariolio - did you only mix the peas?
I have put an Artichoke plant in a flower bed because it would have taken too much space in the veggie gardens, but other than Morning Glories, which we grow amongst the cucumbers, I haven;t mixed too much. But I'm think of doing more.
This is last year's cukes and MGs.
I love, love, love morning glories! It's the first plant I can remember loving when I was little! I have some Grandpa Ott's seeds but need to check when is best to start them.
Actually, I'm going to plant my okra seeds in the back of my flower bed this year because I ran out of space in the veggie beds! And I have a few flowers and vines mixed with my herbs. Of course, there are plants that are supposed to repel bugs, like marigolds, that I've tried with the tomatoes. Not sure if they did anything and when the tomato plants grew, they didn't get enough sun and pooped out. Anyone have luck with flowers repelling bugs?
Now, back to blooms!
Gazania and my cactus
There are so many cultivars of daily its often pretty hard to ID it absolutely.

Cheryl, I have all the names of my daylilies, I just need to look at the tag that's buried with them.
