This insect is spotted very occasionally in my garden. Can someone help identify this?

The black fly which was much larger than the ordinary housefly by many folds flew in two days ago.

The fly is a bee fly - http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rYgleXxkfX8/Tndv-msrX_I/AAAAAAAAEQE/LV2zR47IS3I/s640/beefly1.JPG
I checked up again today and found that there are hundreds of genera of this Bee Fly. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombyliidae
Even The Scarab beetle seems to have a vast variety.
