CLOSED: Weird Insect ID please

Damascus, Syria

I found this insect inside my home, it's about 1 cm in length

Wow...that one is certainly alien looking....still searching for a match....are those "wings" or some kind of appendage?

Colima, Mexico(Zone 11)

do you suppose it could be some kind of louse?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Isn't a half inch a bit large for a louse? The insect in question is ugly enough to be, but I can't find a picture to match.

I'm very curious to know what it is,or at least it's family or genus
I've no clue what it could be, I've never seen anything like this before

(Zone 7a)

It almost looks like the shed skin of something. Curious to know, too.

will this bug be non-identifiable, here's another pic

What makes this so difficult is that what we are seeing is the "husk" of an insect that has molted....they rarely give any clues as to the real shape/color of the insect.

thanks for the reply, actually this is a living insect not a shed skin, It was alive and moving when I took the image

Wow...I would have sworn it was a molting...maybe it was starting to molt as the top looks almost translucent....back to looking...

A friend suggested that this one could be:

Phyllomorpha laciniata

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

And it looks like your friend was right. What a strange creature. I see that it lives in the Mediterranean region, so probably no chance of my running across it. It seems to be related to some of the insects here, leaf-footed bugs and Squash bugs.

Glad the puzzle is solved.

Phyllomorpha laciniata does indeed seem to be the answer. I could not see the wing venation clearly enough to be certain as to which superfamily your specimen belonged; I was leaning more to Lygaeoidea than Coreoidea, which explains my searches coming up empty...

Thanks a lot guys, glad this finally identified
