Hi there, I am in North Carolina and noticed these spiders on our tree this afternoon. Any idea what kind and if I should be cautious with them? We have little ones around so want to make sure they are not dangerous to them.

Not spiders but nymphs of an assassin bug such as the wheel bug - http://bugguide.net/node/view/9054
Painful bite, but otherwise harmless.
Interesting, are they bad for the tree? Should I worry about getting rid of them?
They are general predators on other insects; they will not harm the tree.
