I think my alliums froze...foliage not looking good! Jo, pretty weeping JM.

anyone else having/had trouble with some shrubs not leafing out on all the branches? I've got winterberries doing this, as well as the spiky-flowering spiraea and clethra.

That said, my brunnera, crabapple (anyone else always type crap first?), paque and iberis, and viburnum are doing well.

1) I forgot that macs auto rotate the images but when I upload then are not.
2) I really need to turn the auto spell check off when typing here! That's pasque.

I noticed lilacs don't have many blooms this year....too warm?

My lilacs have been great. No shrub problems here, luckily.

Mine should bloom ,first year the bushes have been planted. The buds look small and the freezing and snow didnt help.

This is an amazing year.

Ok, not an exciting photo, but I was very excited to see buds on my Japanese Climbing Hydrangea vine 'Roseum', planted just last year.

That sounds like a fantastic plant.

I think it will be, Victor. It seems to be thriving and I can't wait to see it bloom. (and grow big enough to block out my view of the neighbors!!!)

I also have neighbors I would like to screen. They grow raspberries in a raised bed,go away for the summer and the thing fills with weeds.

You mean the penstemon-I did some from seed last year, and it's not nearly as red. The ones above are from LazyS, also last year . One case where the extra effort wasn't worth it.

I am not a seed starter so I am not the one to give advise.
I bought my Red Huskers from Bluestone.

I just tried to find a photo of the plant later in the season. I believe some of the red color turns green as the plant matures to fall.

This is it from last fall... It really filled in!

My sister has a Penstemon Red Husker that self sows everywhere. Mine dont. Its too full of mulch here.

I hope they do volunteer... But I'll only keep them if they're red.

Mine stay pretty red throughout the season...they do get greener, but still are interesting.....Jo, do what Bill does....make raspberry jam!

Those clever neighbors cut the canes down for the past 2 seasons,so the berries bare in late summer and fall when they are home from the mountains.
We dont get any anymore.
