A caveat for you greenthumb...do not touch these caterpillars...the hairs emit a toxin that feels very close to an electric shock when in contact with the skin...and can make a grown man cry...it is indeed painful and each contact point looks like a tiny bruise...

Thanks for the warning. Having touched a saddleback as a young, curious child I avoid touching any caterpiller with those types of bristles. :-0
