CLOSED: This insect bit me. What is it?

I pulled this off my chest after walking in the "woods" in the Hamptons. Is it a tick? What kind?

Thanks,
Steve

Thanks. Here's a better pic. Has a white dot, so seems like it must be a Lone Star Tick.

Check for tick babies when you get out of the woods. They are really tiny, like dots from the end of a sharpened pencil. One time after being out in the woods with my son, he called me to say he had them on his legs. Really tiny things. I had already showered but I found them still on my ankles. Yuck! Now I spray really well before going out in the woods, especially my ankles.

yep definitely. they're really bad where my mom lives, and i'm super paranoid over them every time i come in from going outside.
even better if you have a second set of eyes helping you look!
