Which is this wasp that builds thread like hive?

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

First of all I think this is a wasp. Want to know which one. Look at its hive. The opening was facing towards the wall and not towards the outside where western sun is harsh and that is also where we walk in the garden. It has made the hive in a potted plant kept high on a stand.

Wow...this is a fascinating insect. I have no idea what it is but there are knowledgeable people here who will reply to you. I will be watching this thread because I also would be interested to know what it is :-D

Thanks vitrsna and Flapdoodle. Saw the photo in the link. So similar, but that one in the link has a black colour on the abdomen, while here it is is brown and yellow. Could it be the same and the colour variation due to climate and location?

Images do not appear available for all species in this genus; yours undoubtedly is a different species from the one shown in the link provided above.

Dinu, did a little searching and discovered that there are 26 species of Ropalidia in India. I did find a list of species names, there are over 200 of them, but it did not include a lot of info on them.

Thanks themoonowl. I had some time to browse today. Is this closer to R.revolutionalis? I noticed their nests are similar to this one. Now I see them making a nest on another plant nearby. That nest I had shown to start this thread is now gone.
