Another I.D. question

I was thinking with a raw egg it would crack and digest sooner and easier but the hard boiled would take a whole lot longer to digest. Would be funny to see it stuck in some netting. Is it possible to get them free from the netting? Of course I meant the non-poisonous ones.

That is funny about the mobile home :)

We had a mocking bird build a nest and lay eggs in DH's tractor. He spent a weekend brush hogging and mamma followed him all over. The eggs hatched (shortly after that weekend) and he left the tractor parked 'till the babies left the nest. Wasn't too long. He was miffed then, but thinks it is funny now!

Terri, that is so sweet!

Welllll, I think DH was being sweet to me as he knew I would be more upset than he about damaging the nest. But he does like birds, especially "his" hummingbirds! I'll tell him you said he was sweet ☺!

I really don't like snakes. I found a rat snake in my chicken coop with an egg in its belly. I did kill it and discovered the egg in its belly was a ceramic one I keep in the nest to encourage the chickens to lay their eggs there. The next week there was another one in the nest also with egg in belly. Got rid of that one too. 2 mornings ago I came upon this one on my back porch where my 4 week old chicks were being kept. After eating one of my chicks it could no longer squeeze out of the cage and yes I got rid of it. I've been on this property for 3 years and have only seen one rat snake but this year there seem to be a lot more.

I read years ago that a drought causes things to reproduce more and that could be why you are seeing more rat snakes. Also the drought forces animals out to other places to find food. I don't blame you for killing them to protect your chickens. Unless someone could relocate them you have no other choice.

Becareful as there could be some poisonous ones lurking due to coming out looking for food.

Oh! fancyflea, I don't blame you for getting rid of them! I found a huge one exactly like the photo you just posted in my garden shed, which is next to the chicken coop, chicken run, and the dog kennels. It is hiding under the storage shelves right now and I will have to unload them and move the shelves to get at the snake. Ugh! If I can catch it alive I will move it to the Sabine River (about a mile from us). I know that is not ideal but can't think of anything else. We've never had snakes around, the dogs kill them first. But I just don't like snakes--sorry all you snake lovers!

Not a snake lover....just hate to see non poisonous ones killed unless they are wreaking havoc like at fancyflea's. Down by the river should be ideal as there will be things to eat as they come down for a drink.

Funny you should say that. I was going to mow last night after work and drove the mower over the where I wanted to start. Pressed the button to fire up the PTO (blades) and out flew another snake! He was unhurt and slithered off sooooo fast I barely got a good look at him. Gesh!

What? See mowing is bad for your health. lol
