please help identify this. it is inside the house, looks like a ladybird but is brownish. Hope is not a wood borer

Looks like a carpet beetle in genus Anthrenus.

You need to locate the food source(s) for their larvae (the damage-causing stage) and eliminate/secure that. See http://entnemdept.ufl.edu/creatures/fabric/furniture_carpet_beetle01.htm for an example.
