hi all
I've haven't thought to ask this before now.
Are there any collectors of snowdrops - galanthaphiles -their many cultivars and sports on DG?
at the moment I have 16 different ones and would like to swap with others.

collectors of snowdrops
I love snowdrps. I've been looking at them inmy new plant encyclopedia. This thing is REALLY getting me in trouble!!
Which ones do you have? Do you collect anything else?
Angel
hi there Angel
the main plants I 'grow/collect' can be seen at the following link
http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumList?u=1389828
the snowdrops I grow are
Galanthus Atkinsii, Brenda Troyle, Dionysus, Ikarie,Lady Beatrix Stanley, Magnet, Melvillii, Pusey Green Tips, Viridapicis, S. Arnott, Straffan, Warham, Ginns Imperati, Mrs Backhouse #12, Daphne's Scissors, Nivalis, Nivalis Flora Plena, Woronowii, Elwesii X Plicatus,
Forget the snowdrops, I love your BIRDS!
I am mom to three cockatiels. I can't imagine life without the little buggers. :-D
I love your pictures you collected. I also love the bat pics! I've alwways been fond of bats for some reason. Always wanted one but I'd have to have a fruit eating one. Cant do the bug thing.
Angel -- I hope you weren't talking about having a bat as a pet......I work part time at a wildlife refuge......and believe me, bat's are not "pet" material. We recently had two that came in due to their nesting sites being disturbed....they were extremely difficult to feed (had to be fed with long handled surgical clamps) as they BITE!!!!! But again, we run a wildlife refuge and our goal is to treat and release......so we expected them to be a bit perturbed!
If you want a really cool pet......flying squirrels are wonderful! We have two and they are quite the characters! Very "user friendly"......they love pockets (and your head, and your back!) If I could ever figure out how to post pictures here, I'd show you how cute they are.
Mark - your pictures are exquisite! Do you really keep bats in captivity?
Are all bats that way? They are do adorable just stuck to the wall minding their own business :-)
Well, Cedie has requested no more pets anyway. She is the 9 year old Persian that I live with. She is gracious enough to allow me to sit in this new chaise lounge I just bought. She is quitethe inactive type. her last visit to the vet showed she went from 8.5 pounds to 12.5 pounds in just one year, yikes!!
I actually did get her a pet last summer. It was a flying kitten. This kitten also loves the back, the head the shoulders, Cedies head, Cedies back, Cedies food dish....
I loved her spunk, Hailey is her name, but she got me in trouble with both Cedie and the landlord. Now Hailey resides at my sisters and lives with two boys 9 & 10 who also love jumping on nerves and another cat and a dog. She is adorable. I have visitation rights but I think Cedie will leave if I bring another pet in this house.
I would love to see the pictures of those flying squirrels.
Beautiful Pictures.
I am being introduced to so many plants that I didn't know existed. This web site is great.
Can you tell me where I can get some of these? (They look as if they are a plant grown from a bulb?)
maark your pics are wonderful-All of them!
I dont have any snowdrops-admired them for along time.
I never knew there were so many kinds!
beautiful pics!
hi mom24cats
yes I do have bats but they are with me for a reason. I'm a bat man hence my email addresses mark@batdetective.com and thebatman@btinternet.com. I do lots of work promoting bats on TV, radio, schools, talks & walks. They are not the scary critters that most would let you believe. anyway the bats that live with me are usually temporary residence. bats that are lost or too weak to fly are given a rehydrate and food and released asap back in the area they were found. the 2 on the wall were found after an unusually warm spell in December which made them think it was spring. they are now hibernating in a box in my greenhouse. sometime in April I will release them where they were found.
hi Angel
my bats are adorable and look nothing like mice to which they ARE NOT related. without started a whole evolution row bats came from the same line as us. in fact we came from their line as bats were around before us.one thing US citizens have to be wary of is rabies from all mammals not just bats but the chances of being bitten by a rabid bat are less than .o1%
hi notmartha
there are 500 named cultivars of snowdrops and 1000s without names. there are 15 species of them. you gotta get some now while they are still with leaves. they hate being moved when they are dormant. its called 'in the green'
hi tree climber
which plants are you on about? I need to know so I can tell you more about them. if I have spare of what you want I might be able to supply you.
Mark
